Hello, my name is Johnie Souza (Pronouns: She/Her/Hers). I am a Licensed Professional Counselor from Oregon, and have worked in mental health for almost 20 years. I started in case management and direct support with adolescents, and then moved towards working in community counseling with chronically mentally ill adults. In 2012, after completing my education, I became a psychotherapist. I continue to learn and grow, most recently becoming a certified Neuroscience Informed Therapist in November 2022. This is my life's calling and I feel truly lucky to be a therapist.

Thank you for considering me as your potential therapist. I believe each person has a purpose, and is given unique gifts and challenges. Sometimes life becomes too stressful and chaotic to see your gifts and purpose. My role is to strive in helping you meet your counseling goals, to live the healthy and balanced you are envisioning for the future.

Therapy can be tremendously rewarding, however it is real work. If you are committed to the process, it can be a deeply enriching and liberating process, with a satisfactory outcome. What you put into this experience is what you take away from it. Know that throughout your process, I will be there to guide and support by offering insights and tools to assist you in coping and overcoming obstacles.

While I am supportive and caring, I will not tolerate any abusive language related to Black, Indigenous, People of Color, any member of the LGBTQI+ Community. I will not tolerate denigration of any culture, religion, ability level, or ethnicity, or political affiliation. Hate cannot abide within the boundaries of our professional therapeutic relationship.

With twelve years of experience as a mental health therapist, I can help you work towards actualizing your goals, to live a more fulfilled life. Together we can help you get back on track so you can live the life you visualize for yourself , and want to support you as you work towards feeling your utmost best.

Thank you, looking forward to our working together.

Online counseling, sometimes called teletherapy, refers to talk therapy delivered remotely through digital platforms, such as video calls, phone calls, or chat. It can be a great option for people who face barriers to traditional face-to-face therapy, such as those living in remote areas, individuals with mobility issues, or people with busy schedules that make it difficult to attend in-person sessions.

Teletherapy also offers greater convenience and flexibility, allowing clients to access care from the comfort of their homes. Research shows that the treatment outcomes with online counseling are often just as effective as with traditional therapy, providing a viable alternative for individuals seeking mental health support.

Johnie is a wonderful thereapist, and really just a great fit for me personally as well. She gives me space to explore things on my own time and at my own speed, gentling guiding and supporting me without pushing "breakthroughs" or forcing me to explore a subject I don't want to. She recommends articles, books, and podcasts that I might find helpful and really understands what I want out of therapy, and provides it. She has such a subtle way of guiding and advising that I'll feel like I did basically all the talking, but somehow wound up clarifying my thoughts and figuring out the best steps to take, without feeling pushed. She's great at helping me see what's been there all along, and helping me figure out how to stay true to myself when dealing with difficult people, and gives me a lot of confidence in my feelings and my choices. I am very grateful to have found her!

I got turned onto BetterHelp from Tom Bilyeu's 'Impact Theory' and decided to give it a shot. I had been looking around at local therapist offices to attend a session in person originally but decided to give BetterHelp a try, largely due to convenience, but it's also a great price for the help and services you can receive. Although I originally wanted a male therapist, I am very happy that there weren't any currently available in my state and that I got matched with Johnie. We've had 2 sessions already and it really has already started helping me get through these tough times and see the light at the other side. I do not regret that decision and plan on continuing to use the service regularly.
