I am a licensed professional counselor with a Masters Degree in Counseling from Virginia Tech, a Post-Master’s Certificate in Counselor Education from the University of Maryland, and a Doctorate in Higher Education from Morgan State University. My passion for the mental health fields comes from being a part of a person’s journey of transformation, from the beginning point of confusion and frustration to the end goal of direction and confidence. It is truly a privilege to witness my clients’ discovery process as they identify their definition of success and move forward to achieving their goals and dreams.
I have 25 years experience treating adults and adolescents 13+ with various mental health and adjustment issues including anxiety, depression, and mood disorders. I specialize in assisting individuals and couples navigate life transitions related to relationships, parenting, workplace and career issues, and grief and loss. The diverse clients I have assisted include individuals and couples of all ages, racial and ethnic backgrounds, and sexual orientations.
I take a person-centered and holistic approach to better understand where clients are developmentally. I also use an integrative approach in customizing a treatment plan that works best for each client. CBT and strengths-based therapy are often utilized in helping clients identify goals and develop solutions that are meaningful to them.
About online counseling
Online counseling allows you to receive care from an online mental health practitioner via phone, video chat, or instant messaging. It is convenient for those who may have trouble getting to or would prefer not to have in-person therapy appointments. Ranging from $60 to $90 per week, online counseling is generally more affordable than in-person counseling. A study by researchers at University of California, Berkeley found that online counseling can be just as effective as face-to-face therapy while being more convenient, affordable, and accessible.
