More about me
Years in Practice: 3
Hello! I am Dr. Chad Kelland. I am a Licensed Clinical Psychologist in Virginia and a Licensed Psychologist in Missouri. I have a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from an APA accredited clinical program as well as a Masters in Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy. Combining my pre and post doctoral work and my years being licensed, I have about a decade of clinical experience. My specialities are in assessment, diagnosis, and individual psychotherapy (counseling). I am also well versed in couples counseling. I have additional training in psychological assessment, crisis intervention, trauma treatment, and addiction.
My approach to psychotherapy is all about the relationship that develops between the client and me. Each client is a unique individual, respect of their values, beliefs, and culture are extremely important to building a strong therapeutic relationship. I provide a supportive, judgment free environment that allows the client to explore and process the aspects of their life that they are looking to improve. I work very hard to ensure that client feels my concern, care, cheerleading and support. I truly believe that people can improve, change, or heal. I have been trained to use various theories and interventions to help the client achieve their treatment goals and use a collaborative approach to determine how the client got to this point and what they want to do to achieve their goals. Exploring relational patterns, thoughts, feelings, and behaviors is an incredibly important aspect of treatment. A supportive relationship combined with talking can do wonders for a person's psychological, emotional, mental, spiritual, and behavior health.
I look forward to working with you!
About online counseling
Online counseling allows you to receive care from an online mental health practitioner via phone, video chat, or instant messaging. It is convenient for those who may have trouble getting to or would prefer not to have in-person therapy appointments. Ranging from $35 to $80 per week, online counseling is generally more affordable than in-person counseling. A study by researchers at University of California, Berkeley found that online counseling can be just as effective as face-to-face therapy while being more convenient, affordable, and accessible.
