Paula is so kind and patient, caring and compassionate. She has a way of making me feel like my problems are her problems, and levels with me to make me feel like she truly and completely understands what I’m going through, and best of all offers a plethora of solutions. She’s an amazing asset to the Better Help team, and whatever she’s being paid isn’t enough.

Hello and welcome! My name is Paula Leapheart and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug counselor in the state of Michigan. I have over 15 years of experience working in the behavioral health field. I received my Master's Degree in Mental Health Counseling in 2014 from Walden University. I have worked with a variety of clients including those experiencing anxiety, depression, couples and family issues, substance use challenges, and adjustment issues.
I believe that clients are experts in their own lives and my approach to therapy focuses on that concept. My goal is to assist clients on their journey to holistic wellness while helping them see the power that lies within. One of the first steps is to build a healthy therapeutic relationship. Building a foundation of trust in a safe and non-judgmental environment is extremely important. I also believe in meeting all clients exactly where they are. Together we will focus on the mind, body, and soul; ultimately working towards a healthier you!

Online counseling allows you to receive care from a mental health practitioner via phone, video chat, or instant messaging. It is convenient for those who may have trouble getting to or would prefer not to have in-person therapy appointments. Starting at $65 per week, online counseling is generally more affordable than in-person counseling. A study by researchers at University of California, Berkeley found that online counseling can be just as effective as face-to-face therapy while being more convenient, affordable, and accessible.

Paula was very warm and easy to talk to. She offered very practical tips on how to move forward to get to where I needed to go, and listened intently to me as I spoke. I always came away from our sessions feeling lighter!
