More about Sarah

  • 4 years' experience

My name is Sarah, and I am a Person-Centred (Integrative) Counsellor, Psychotherapist, and Life Coach. I offer both short and long-term counselling online, supporting adults and young people through a wide range of emotional and psychological difficulties.

Alongside talking therapy, I also integrate more holistic approaches when they feel appropriate and supportive. These may include breathwork, meditation, mindfulness, and yoga (including children’s yoga). Any additional practices are always optional and carefully tailored to your individual needs.

I have a particular interest and experience in working with trauma, including childhood trauma. However, you do not need to have experienced trauma to work with me, I welcome anyone who feels in need of support, understanding, or guidance during a challenging time in their life.

My professional background is in education both for young people and adults, where I specialised in pastoral care and safeguarding. This has given me extensive experience supporting individuals who feel overwhelmed, distressed, or emotionally unsafe. In my counselling work, I have supported clients with issues including trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, low self-worth, loss and grief, addiction and recovery from sexual abuse and rape.

At the heart of my work is the therapeutic relationship. I aim to meet each person with warmth, openness, and without judgement or assumptions. Creating a sense of safety is essential, as people are able to heal more effectively when they feel understood, supported, and at ease with their counsellor.

As your counsellor, I will listen carefully and compassionately to both what you say and what may feel harder to put into words. By understanding your world from your perspective, we can explore what is happening for you and develop insight together. I will also offer practical coping strategies that you can use in your day-to-day life. Our work will always move at a pace that feels right for you.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.
