About Me

Hi! I'm Dominique (they/them), a trans, autistic, queer social worker. experienced in supporting people in community, clinical, and systemic spaces. I’ve been described as thoughtful, unflinchingly honest, and someone who notices details others miss. But more importantly, I’m someone who has experienced the messy reality of surviving in systems that weren’t built for people like me.

I work with adults and young people who want support that aligns with their values, respects their lived experience, and helps them live authentically on their own terms. I specialise in offering telehealth support rooted in principles of neuroaffirming care, peer connection, and systemic justice. My approach is warm, non-judgmental, and grounded.

A Little About My Experience:

In addition to providing counselling support, I’ve spent years advocating in spaces where people are often unheard, including:

- Supporting neurodivergent young people to build peer networks and thrive.

- Fighting for tenants’ rights in tribunal rooms and alongside unhoused community members.

- Advocating alongside NDIS participants to reclaim choice and control in their supports.

- Mentoring emerging social workers and peer workers to centre lived experience in their practice.

I’m here to collaborate, not to “treat” or pathologise. Whether you’re unraveling systemic barriers, rebuilding after burnout, or just trying to exist authentically in a world that demands conformity, I’ll show up with warmth, pragmatism, and a healthy dose of irreverence.

What We Can Explore Together:

- Self-understanding: How you relate to the world and what nurtures you.

- Problem-solving: Breaking down challenges into actionable steps.

- Neurodivergence: Affirming your identity, building self-advocacy skills, and navigating burnout. Whether you’re exploring what it means to be autistic, ADHD, or otherwise neurodivergent, we’ll focus on understanding yourself better and creating strategies that actually work for you.

- Burnout: Prevention, recovery, and finding ways to sustain yourself while navigating overwhelming systems. Burnout isn’t personal, it’s often the result of systems that aren’t designed to support us. Let’s unpack it together.

- Mental Health: Supporting you through distress, challenging thoughts, or mental health challenges without pathologising your experiences. You are more than a diagnosis.

- Queer & Gender Diverse Identities: Exploring identity, fostering connection, and affirming your journey - whether it’s about relationships, transitions, or simply existing as your whole self.

- System Navigation: Advocating for your needs within complex systems like the NDIS, Centrelink, housing, education, or workplaces. Or, if you’d rather take the lead, I can help you build the confidence and tools to advocate for yourself.

- Community & Disability Justice: Moving toward collective access and liberation. How do we challenge unjust systems? How do we sustain ourselves and each other? These questions matter deeply to me, and they shape how I show up for people.

I currently offer sessions on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays between 10am and 5pm AEST.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.
