More about Megan

  • 4 years' experience
  • Female
  • LCSW

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) who believes that human connection is at the heart of healing. I bring warmth, compassion, and authenticity into every session, with the goal of helping clients feel truly seen and supported. My clinical background includes extensive training and experience in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and perinatal mental health. I have previous experience as the lead therapist of an intensive outpatient program, treating birthing persons navigating perinatal mood and anxiety disorders. I have experience treating mood disorders, personality disorders, anxiety disorders, trauma and stressor related disorders, substance use disorders, and severe mental illness. I also have experience providing Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) therapy for individuals navigating OCD and anxiety disorders.

My approach is person-centered and flexible, drawing from DBT, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), internal family systems therapy (IFS), solution-focused therapy, and psychodynamic perspectives. At the core of my work is the belief that clients are the experts of their own lives, and with the support of a strong therapeutic alliance, can cultivate resilience and create fulfilling, balanced lives. I value human connection above all else and view the therapeutic relationship as the foundation of meaningful change. Building trust, rapport, and safety from the very beginning is at the heart of my work.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.
