More about Michelle

I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with 10 years of experience in counseling individuals and families of various ethnic, religious, and socioeconomic backgrounds in the state of NY. I have worked both in private practice and community health centers. The extensive work in such clinical setting serving adults, couples, and families, has granted me expertise in relationship counseling and the treatment of anxiety and depression. I borrow interventions and concepts from theories of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Positive Psychology, and Mindfulness. I focus on approaches that are solution driven, reality based, and strength related. I also make use of the training received for levels 1 and 2 of the Gottman Method to work with couples in conflict management, emotional connectivity, shared goals, and other areas.

I understand that humans do naturally better when they feel respected, understood, and cared for. When they have a consistent support system, sense of purpose, and the appropriate coping tools to most effectively manage life’s unpredictable variations and inevitable transitions. Therefore, being able to offer clients a consistent, caring, and supportive environment is one of the primary goals in my practice along with helping them identify their own personal purpose. In my practice, I provide a safe space for individuals and couples to discover useful tools and work at their own pace in redefining old negative patterns and forming realistic and hopeful narrative of others, themselves, and the future. I understand that everyone’s journey is different and significant, therefore, if you think my way of doing work fits well with where you are in life, please reach out and let me be of help.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.
