Hello! Thank you for considering me as your counselor. I have a master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy and over 20 years experience helping individuals and families find their paths to a better life. As a spouse, father, US Army veteran, and recreational sailor, my practical life experience helps inform my work.
While I have training in Cognitive Behavorial Therapy (CBT), trauma, substance abuse, and family relationships, all that operates mostly in the background. My approach is more conversational than medical. We'll talk, get to know each other, and exchange ideas about what has worked in the past and what might help in the future. Even though counselors are highly trained allied medical professionals, I think most people prefer a coaching model for helping them meet their goals.
My preferred model is short-term, solution-focused therapy. I'll ask you what you want to accomplish, then we'll focus on getting it done. I will suggest homework between sessions. I get it - everyone is busy and sometimes homework doesn't get done. But practice is important to cement new habits so I might nag you a bit.
Feel free to give me a call and we'll talk about your goals and if I am the best fit to help you.

Online counseling, sometimes called teletherapy, refers to talk therapy delivered remotely through digital platforms, such as video calls, phone calls, or chat. It can be a great option for people who face barriers to traditional face-to-face therapy, such as those living in remote areas, individuals with mobility issues, or people with busy schedules that make it difficult to attend in-person sessions.
Teletherapy also offers greater convenience and flexibility, allowing clients to access care from the comfort of their homes. Research shows that the treatment outcomes with online counseling are often just as effective as with traditional therapy, providing a viable alternative for individuals seeking mental health support.
