More about Aiyana

  • 24 years' experience

I’m a licensed therapist in the District of Columbia with more than 24 years of experience helping individuals navigate life’s emotional and relational challenges. Throughout my career, I’ve worked with adults, young adults, and families facing anxiety, depression, relationship stress, life transitions, workplace pressures, and questions about identity, purpose, and self-worth.

Many of the people I work with are high functioning on the outside but internally feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or stuck in patterns they don’t fully understand. Therapy with me is a space where you can slow down, make sense of what you’re carrying, and begin responding to your life with greater clarity and intention rather than survival mode.

My approach is warm, collaborative, and insight oriented while also practical. I draw from attachment based therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness practices, psychodynamic understanding, and trauma informed care to help clients understand how past experiences, family dynamics, and cultural context shape present emotions and relationships. Together, we focus not only on understanding patterns but learning new ways to think, communicate, and care for yourself.

I have extensive experience supporting clients through issues such as anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, family of origin wounds, loneliness, codependency, workplace stress, multicultural experiences, and major life transitions. I also work with individuals exploring boundaries, self love, forgiveness, and rebuilding trust in themselves after difficult experiences.

Clients often describe my style as compassionate, grounded, and honest. I believe therapy should feel both safe and meaningful a place where you feel seen while also gently challenged toward growth.

If you are ready to better understand yourself, strengthen your emotional wellbeing, and create healthier patterns in your life and relationships, I would be honored to support you.

Online counseling, sometimes called teletherapy, refers to talk therapy delivered remotely through digital platforms, such as video calls, phone calls, or chat. It can be a great option for people who face barriers to traditional face-to-face therapy, such as those living in remote areas, individuals with mobility issues, or people with busy schedules that make it difficult to attend in-person sessions.

Teletherapy also offers greater convenience and flexibility, allowing clients to access care from the comfort of their homes. Research shows that the treatment outcomes with online counseling are often just as effective as with traditional therapy, providing a viable alternative for individuals seeking mental health support.
