About Me

Hi, my name is Christina Azaredo. I am a qualified Social Worker (Masters), certified in Pain Reprocessing Therapy, and a Mind-Body (TMS) Syndrome Practitioner. I am certified in Embodied Processing (Level 1) and am furthering my clinical training through a Diploma of Counselling. My work is grounded in somatic and mind-body approaches that support emotional integration and nervous system regulation.

What sets my work apart is that I come to this not only as a practitioner but as someone with lived experience. My own journey with chronic pain — and the healing I found through mind-body approaches — deeply shapes how I support others. I understand how exhausting, frustrating, and isolating it can feel to live with symptoms that feel invisible or misunderstood, and I know firsthand how powerful it is to feel safe, seen, and supported.

My work is relational, collaborative and moves at your pace. Together we will explore what is happening for you — in your body, your history, and your life — and work gently toward greater safety, self-compassion and connection.

Qualifications & Experience

Master of Social Work

Bachelor of Human Services

Certified Pain Reprocessing Therapist

Certified Mind-Body (TMS) Syndrome Practitioner

Certified Embodied Processing Practitioner

Diploma of Counselling (in progress)

I work from a framework rooted in safety, curiosity, and compassion. Chronic pain often persists even after an injury has healed, and research increasingly shows the brain and nervous system play a central role in generating and maintaining it. This doesn't mean pain is "all in your head" — it means the brain and body are deeply connected, and patterns of pain can sometimes be gently rewired.

Together, we will safely explore the emotional, psychological, and nervous system factors that may be contributing to your symptoms — reducing fear, building a greater sense of safety in the body and supporting the shift out of protective pain responses.

How I Can Help

I work particularly well with people who are:

Living with chronic pain or medically unexplained symptoms

Struggling to understand why their pain continues despite medical treatment

Navigating the grief, identity loss, and isolation that chronic illness brings

Adjusting to a new diagnosis or significant health change

Carrying patterns of anxiety, perfectionism, or people-pleasing that may be contributing to their symptoms

Feeling exhausted by the medical system and ready to explore a different approach

I also work with people navigating trauma, grief, relationship difficulties, and complex emotional presentations — drawing on the same relational, nervous system-informed foundation.

My Support Approach

I bring a person-centred, mind-body approach to my work, drawing on a range of evidence-based modalities to support clients navigating chronic pain, trauma, and complex emotional presentations, including:

Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT)

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

Parts-informed work

Somatic and Embodied Processing

Motivational interviewing

Nervous system regulation

What I offer is a space where all of you is welcome — the pain, the fear, the parts you find difficult to look at, and the hope that things can change.

Our first one to two sessions focus on understanding your situation and figuring out together whether this approach is a good fit.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.
